The Edinburgh Military Tattoo, one of Scotland’s most iconic events presents a unique blend of music and military theatre set against the backdrop of a floodlit Edinburgh Castle. Since the event first took place in 1950, more than 12 million people have experienced this spectacular event and over 40 countries have been represented with an array of different bands and displays. In 2009 the Edinburgh Military Tattoo’s international programme will embrace some of the world-renowned works by the poet Robert Burns in an emotive Homecoming performance of pride and passion. In celebration of this significant year the Edinburgh Military Tattoo will also be going on tour in selected venues outside Edinburgh offering new audiences the opportunity to experience free, lunchtime, 60 minute versions of the main event.
