The 2009 Edinburgh International Festival programme includes the themes of the Enlightenment and Homecoming, setting them in contemporary and often surprising contexts. Join us on an exciting journey through a three week celebration of the arts which transforms the city and brings people together from all corners of the globe. The 2009 programme of theatre, music, opera, dance and the visual arts highlights Scotland’s influence on some of the world’s great artists and artistic endeavours, and reflects on that extraordinary moment in Scottish history considered the foundation of much of modern thinking.
